About the Museum:

The Smithsonian’s National Museum of African Art fosters the discovery and appreciation of the visual arts of Africa, the cradle of humanity.

You can find a variety of Teacher Resources online, including historical background information relating to works of art on the topics of the Mali Empire and African drumming. You can also access Radio Africa, a free music streaming service with complete tracks from the collections of Smithsonian Global Sound that feature wedding music of Ethiopia to the traditional Zulu music of South Africa and more.

The museum’s Playtime! link provides you with kid-friednly online interactives that explore both African fashion and geography.
