About the Museum:

The Earth Space Science Lab is adjacent to Lincoln Elementary School.

The ESSL has a 35′ dome facility that houses a Goto, Chronos Hybrid planetarium system. This planetarium system, installed in 2009, has a mechanical system that realistically models the night sky and a digital system that projects movies 360 degrees. This dome facility, the first of its kind installed in a public school system in the U.S.A., also has 80 planetarium seats and a 5:1 surround sound system. This “immersion theatre” experience is used to enhance and enrich a wide range of curriculum wants and needs.

Non-Public School Groups:

The cost for private groups is $3.00 per student with a $50 minimum charge per group. There is no charge for adult chaperones. Checks should be made payable to Frederick County Public Schools. Please remember that public school groups receive top priority and private groups are accommodated as the schedule permits. School closings due to weather may affect the dates and times of your trip.
