About the Museum:

The Baltimore Museum of Art’s outstanding collection encompasses 90,000 works of art, including the largest holding of works by Henri Matisse in the world, as well as masterpieces by Pablo Picasso, Paul Cezanne, and Vincent van Gogh.

The BMA’s Sculpture Gardens feature a 100-year survey of modern and contemporary sculpture on nearly three landscaped acres in the heart of the city.

The BMA’s Sculpture Garden is hands down one of Baltimore’s best kept secrets for introducing art to little kids. We actually drive in from the county and bring a picnic lunch just so we can read books in the sculpture garden. There’s 2 areas. One is right outside the museum’s entrance where the restaurant is. If you walk to the back of that garden area, the gate opens up and there’s a little walking path. Right across the path is the gate to the lower garden. This is the one we like to bring our work to and sit outside and homeschool and eat. I have 4 kids and the babies can run around on the grass and through the giant sculptures while we read books. Before we leave, we all play tag together.
